Who Are We?

We are a charity that provides relief to those are in need by reason of bereavement through death, family breakdown, separation, or divorce, through the provision of training and resources to deliver Grief Peer Support Programmes for children and teenagers.

Why Grief Support?

Bereavement affects a person’s emotional, spiritual, physical and mental health and well-being. When they don’t have anyone to talk through their feelings they will often be overwhelmed with a range of emotions.

Our Programmes

Growing Through programmes are peer support group curriculum’s that are biblically based. They are targeted, evidence-based programmes of intervention and prevention, to provide help for children to cope with their grief now, in the early stages, in order to prevent problems stemming from unresolved grief in their future.

Resources

During the upheaval of a deeply emotional time of loss in our lives, we can have a lot of questions or worries that we want to search out answers for. Growing Through may not provide all the answers to those questions but, we hope we can give you some guidance to help you navigate your journey of grief through our informational resources provided here.

Don’t just go through it

GROW THROUGH IT!

Our Mission

Our mission is taken from Jesus’ mission statement in Luke 4:18-19, that identifies the kind of people Jesus was reaching out to – the afflicted, the broken hearted, the captives, the prisoners, and the mournful.  Jesus wanted to bring to these hurting people the good news of the gospel – healing, liberty, freedom, and comfort. James 1: 27, reiterates this mission to the church by stating that “A Religion that our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”

The aim of Growing Through is to help the local church fulfil this mission by meeting people at their felt need and to help them ‘grow through’ their pain rather than just ‘get through’ it.

How do we do this?

We provide training and resources for the delivery of grief peer support group programmes for children and teenagers who have been bereaved through death, family breakdown, separation and divorce.

We provide ongoing support for existing and new groups as needed.

The ultimate dream of Growing Through is to have local support groups for bereaved children in every town/city in the UK, Northern Ireland, Eire and internationally. In order to attain this, we need people who are passionate about providing ongoing support for grieving children and teens to gather likeminded people, who would be willing to invest in the resources, take the training and be that support to hurting children and teens in your local area.

If you would like to start a local group in your area and need more information, please send an enquiry through our contact page and we will get back to you in due course.
