Who Are We?

We are a charity that provides relief to those are in need by reason of bereavement through death, family breakdown, separation, or divorce, through the provision of training and resources to deliver Grief Peer Support Programmes for children and teenagers.

Why Grief Support?

Bereavement affects a person’s emotional, spiritual, physical and mental health and well-being. When they don’t have anyone to talk through their feelings they will often be overwhelmed with a range of emotions.

Our Programmes

Growing Through programmes are peer support group curriculum’s that are biblically based. They are targeted, evidence-based programmes of intervention and prevention, to provide help for children to cope with their grief now, in the early stages, in order to prevent problems stemming from unresolved grief in their future.

Resources

During the upheaval of a deeply emotional time of loss in our lives, we can have a lot of questions or worries that we want to search out answers for. Growing Through may not provide all the answers to those questions but, we hope we can give you some guidance to help you navigate your journey of grief through our informational resources provided here.

Ways you can support Growing Through

Thank you so much for championing and supporting our very specialised mission to help children and teens who have experienced family breakdown or the death of a loved one. As a charity, we are very passionate about the ethos of our work to bring healing to those who are hurting, for whatever reason, through the word of God. Without your continued support both practically, financially, and prayerfully, we couldn’t function, continue to grow or expand to meet the need and demand of the service.

Volunteer your services

Start a Grief Support Group in your community

One of the best ways to expand the ministry is to invest in your local community by starting a local grief support group. The more local people committing to starting groups in their local areas the more availability there is for children to be referred on too. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a Grief Support group in every town in the UK and Eire? If you are interested in finding out how to do this, go to ‘how to start a group’. Alternatively, if you wish to refer a child or teenager to a local group, go to ‘local groups in UK and Eire’ for details of groups that maybe active in your community.

  • Become a Growing Through advocate in your area to promote our work or speak to local groups about our work
  • Volunteer to be a facilitator in your local group (see criteria in how to start a group or explore local groups in your area, above)
  • If you have good administrative or IT skills, apply to be a volunteer supportive administrator for our Northern Ireland Charity board. (Contact us using the contact page to make an enquiry)
  • Follow us on Facebook and share our posts
  • Refer a child to a local group (see above or contact UK representative to see if there is an active local group in your community)
  • Volunteer to fundraise for our charity
  • If you are experienced and skilled at sourcing trust funds and their application processes, volunteer your services to the Growing Through board in Northern Ireland (contact us using the contact page)
  • Sign up to our newsletters and keep up to date with our work
